Writing
- Comma before "But" - Only place a comma before the word if there is an independent clause after it.
- Don't double space sentences. The monospaced typewriter required double spacing to be read correctly. We now use computers and printers, which is why we use single spacing.
- A comma before "and" isn't necessary but is often used when there is an independent clause after it.
- "Or" or "our" in words? Ex. favorite/favourite, rumor/rumour, flavor/flavour, color/colour. "Or" is often used by the Americans. British English, New Zealand English, Australian English and Canadian English, all use the latter.
- Never double space between hyphens because they are meant to "glue" words together. Ex. 300-400 lizards, three-year-old, 8:00-8:40.
