What Type of Publisher Are You?
4 Paws Games and Publishing is a hybrid publisher. 
A hybrid press or hybrid publisher is a publishing house that operates with a different revenue model than traditional publishing, while keeping the rest of the practices of publishing the same. The revenue source of a traditional publisher is through the sale of books (and other related materials) that they publish, while the revenue of hybrid publishers comes from both book sales and fees charged for the execution of their publishing services. 
What Rights and Say Do I Have?
  1. You retain all rights to your book. If you leave us, you give us a month's notice and your work is still yours. We will then retire your book and if you should publish at any time forward, you will need your own ISBN and will not be able to use our name or logo in connection with your work.
  2. We get 10% of all online sales (through places that sell the e-book and paperback).
  3. We mark your book up by 30% from the original price (so if it's priced at $10USD, we add on 30% = $13/book) and use that 30% to get some money from the sales, but mostly to offer sales deals and for books going into bookstores on consignment. Should the consignment cost more than the 30%, we take that loss. This also allows us to keep our fees low.
  4. We like say in the cover, the synopsis and the pricing. We discuss these with you. The books have to be up to our standards.

We reserve the right to refuse service, change prices and end relations at anytime if we see fit.

  • Light marketing.
  • Info on events for authors in Saskatchewan (through our membership with the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild).
  • A mention of any events you have before and after (images for after) on our website and social media.

  • Book launch or flyer design (depends on package).

  • Book published under our name (it helps establish your book if it is through a publishing company).

How to Submit Your Work
  1. Use or contact form to contact us and attach 3 chapters of your book. If you are unable to attach it, then contact us and we will tell you how to proceed.
  2. We review the work and will either publish it or let you know what needs to be altered before we can. We do not take on anything we don't think we can sell because our name is on it and we don’t want to let you down.
  3. We offer our services world-wide except for China.
  4. Though we have a list of what we won't publish, we sometimes make exceptions so feel free to contact us.
  5. We DO NOT share the work you submit to anyone else, nor do we sell. Your work is YOURS and kept private. We only share our authors' works in hopes of helping them promote their books after they have signed with us.
